Adjustment of the joints of the body has been used in the healing arts for many centuries and is at the heart of modern chiropractic care.

Chiropractors are specialists in manual adjustment of the vertebrae of the spine and other joints of the body. Adjustment helps relieve pain and restore normal functioning to the joints and supporting muscles and ligaments – so you can enjoy your everyday activities again as quickly as possible.

Your chiropractor will recommend a course of treatment specific to you that may also include mobilization of the joints, ultrasound, muscle release techniques, muscle stimulation and therapeutic exercises. Chiropractors are also trained to provide nutritional counselling, and recommend rehabilitation and injury prevention strategies.

The BC Association of Clinical Counselling Definition: “Clinical counseling uses established mental health principles, values, and techniques to aid you in achieving insight into existing challenges, gaining new skills and capacities, and earning emotional freedom from historical issues”.

Clinical Counselling allows the essential YOU beneath all the constructed layers to emerge and shine through a process of exploration, skill acquisition, emotional re-evaluation, and knowledge attainment. This process constructs new beliefs about self, others. and life, which in turn, allows new adaptive behaviors.

The therapeutic process begins with you share what brings you into the change process at this moment in your life, and together we illuminate the contrast between where you find yourself and where you want to be. The themes that emerge from this exploration form the goals of therapy. Therapy is a change process which offers opportunities for:

-emotionally corrective experiences as the therapeutic alliance forms,
-introspection to garner insights,
-the practice of new skills resulting in new behaviour and increased competence,
-the acquisition of knowledge to generate empowerment.

Colon Hydrotherapy or a Colonic is a safe gentle way to cleanse the colon of congested waste, toxins, gas, and mucus by flushing warm double UV filtered water into the colon through the rectum. A small amount of body-temperature water flows into the colon, softening the waste and stimulating the colon’s peristaltic action and need to eliminate. This inflow of water and outflow of waste is repeated multiple times over the course of 35 to 50 minutes. This procedure has been known to improve muscle tone of the bowels, facilitate peristaltic motion, relief from chronic constipation, encourages better colon function and elimination allowing the entire body to return to a normal, healthy state of well-being.

Mineral imbalances are at the root of many chronic health concerns. Minerals help regulate our thyroid, adrenal, digestive, cardiovascular, and musculoskeletal functioning. They also affect neurotransmitter levels in the brain, thereby affecting mental health too. When our minerals are out of balance (with deficiencies or toxicities - which also includes toxic metals), so too will our health be. Since blood is homeostatic and constantly works to return to a safe range, a blood test of your minerals can show ‘normal’ even in the case of severe deficiency or toxicity occurring in the cells and tissues. This is where Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis can shine, as it reflects cellular and stored tissue status and can show mineral imbalances that are occurring long before they might ever appear in the blood.

The science of nutritional balancing using Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA) was developed in the 1970s by Drs Eck and Watts. Today it remains the primary test of choice by the US Environmental Protection Agency for detecting heavy metals in the body, and is a powerful tool for preventative and corrective nutritional program design.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is an ancient medical system that takes a deep understanding of the laws and patterns of nature and applies them to the human body. TCM is not "New Age," nor is it a patchwork of different healing modalities. TCM is a complete medical system that has been practiced for more than five thousand years.

At the heart of TCM is the tenet that the root cause of illnesses, not their symptoms, must be treated. In modern-day terms, TCM is holistic in its approach; it views every aspect of a persons body, mind, spirit, and emotions as part of one complete circle rather than loosely connected pieces to be treated individually.

HTMA: A Quick Intro

Mineral imbalances are at the root of many chronic health concerns. These imbalances can typically be detected through Hair Analysis months or even years before they may appear in blood, due to blood’s homeostatic nature. HTMA can be a powerful screening tool for the body’s endocrine system, thyroid expression, adrenal status, energy issues, clues into digestive disorders, (preventative) cardiovascular and musculoskeletal markers, one’s stress response, depression, anxiety, hair loss, and more.

There are many forms of “hair analysis” on the market today, many of which are NOT based on the science of nutritional balancing which was developed in the 1970s & 80s by Drs Eck and Watts. They were the ones who established the ideal reference ranges for minerals in hair and how mineral levels and corresponding ratios relate to health conditions. Eck and Watts were the founders of the ARL and TEI labs respectively, which today remain the top 2 labs globally that specialize in this test and follow all proper testing protocol. TEI (the lab Rick uses) employed ICP Mass Spectrometry (the most modern and expensive analytical technique to be applied to routine elemental analysis) and adheres to the highest standards of quality control.

HTMA remains the primary test of choice by the US Environmental Protection Agency for detecting heavy metals in the body, and provides a valuable roadmap for dietary guidance, safe detox, and optimizing health.

physical pain skin rejuvenation digestion/ metabolism hormone balancing stress management Having an education in many styles of massage therapy, in addition to receiving multiple regenerative needling, and advanced Clinical Pilates instructor certifications, has allowed me to properly relieve:

acute/ chronic muscle tightness throbbing/ aching/ pulsing/ cramping frozen shoulder/ shoulder blades lower back/ hip flexor/ SI joint sciatica/ tingling/ shooting/ numbness tennis/ golfers elbow/ tendonitis carpal tunnel/ wrist/ hand/ trigger finger weakness/ instability/ compensation postural tendencies/ repetitive/ overuse tension headaches/ migraines Often, there are further factors to consider after undoing knots and kinks in the body: hydration, nutrition, movement, rest. This will help to keep the aches away once they’ve been released by one or more of these tools/ techniques:

acupuncture/ electro acupuncture dry needling/ trigger point cupping/ gua sha massage/ tuina active/ passive stretching exercise/ re-engagement alignment correction supplementation/ herbs nutrition counseling Skin Health is another fascinating field where the internal affects the external to a great degree. As we are all aware, what we eat, when we sleep, how we feel, have an immediate effect on our face:

acne/ cystic acne rosacea/ capillaries eczema/ psoriasis dry/ withered lips dark circles/ puffy eyes fine lines/ wrinkles sagging/ hollowing pigmentation/ spots TMJ/ facial tension

Hello, my name is Sherry. I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) and a Registered Social Worker (RSW & MSW). I have been providing counselling services to individuals since 2004. I abide by the code of ethics and standards of practice for both registered clinical counsellors (BCACC) and registered social workers (BCCSW).

Are you struggling with mental health and/or addiction? Have you experienced trauma in your life? Are you having relationship issues? Is stress overwhelming you? Have you had an overwhelming loss? If you answer yes to any of these and want some support to create change, then I can help.

I am passionate about helping others create change in their lives. I am caring, empathetic and non-judgmental. Humor comes natural for me and I use it, when appropriate. Cora is NOT accepting New Patients at this time. Current patients please contact Cora to book.

Direct billing to PBC available, not accepting ICBC at this time.

PLEASE NOTE: Cora does not offer full body relaxation massage.

Cora has been practicing as a RMT for over 12 years across Canada. She is a graduate of 3000hr WCCMT New Westminster program and has taken part in outreaches and clinical settings, ranging from working with professional athletes to patients with neurological and autoimmune conditions.

During an initial visit with Cora, she will use a combination of approaches to formulate a treatment plan. She focuses on education and body awareness, taking in to account all the various aspects of your life that may be affecting your current state of health. She will then recommend a plan that is tailored to your life at that time, as well as establishing goals for future appointments.

Cora continues to update her education, including but not limited to; pain science - acute/chronic pain management, DNM (dermoneuromodulation), L.A.S.T (ligamentous articular strain technique), TMJD treatment, general body bio mechanics, complex joint injuries-rotator cuff and hip/knee injuries, acute and chronic injury treatment and prevention from athletes to office workers, kinesthetic exercises/active rehabilitation, ergonomics, stress management and myofascial mobilizations.

Growing up in Langley, B.C, Cora rode horses competitively throughout her life and began using Massage Therapy and Chiropractic care, among other modalities, to keep herself and her horse pain free and in top condition. She was lucky to have highly accomplished therapists treating her, who ultimately helped shaped her practice as it is today.

Outside of work, Cora can be found wandering around the Inlet during a rainstorm-yes she really does love the rain, weight training, cooking mountains of healthy and “somewhat” healthy food, or curled up on the couch entertaining her cat (who really is a dog trapped in a feline form….).

Call/text (778) 926 7279 or email cora@vonatherapeutics.com if you have any questions.

“Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of human freedoms - to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” ~Viktor E. Frankl

REFLEXOLOGY is a method of stimulating the REFLEX POINTS in the feet that correspond with each of the body’s organs and functions. It is a perfect fit with massage therapy, chiropractic, and all other healing modalities. By rebalancing and deeply relaxing the body’s system, the effectiveness of other treatments are vastly improved. WHOLISTIC, NON-INVASIVE and GENTLE, it is a beneficial for all ages – infant to seniors!

Following a detailed mapping of the body, gentle pressure is applied with the fingers and thumb of the practitioner on the plantar, dorsal, lateral and medial sides of each foot. Correct stimulation of these reflex points causes a release of trapped stress and tension, bringing about a deep state of relaxation. Toxins are also released, and ones’ natural energies flow freely, assisting to normalize the entire system. The body is REVITALIZED and SUPPORTED in its own healing process.

Mary van Geyn has been offering Reflexology for 7 years with her fellow practitioners at Advanced Healing Arts. She obtained her certification from the Pacific Institute of Reflexology, completing both Basic and Advanced Clinical courses. She is currently a Board Member with the Reflexology Association of BC, acting as their Membership Director.
